Vegan and Veggie Resources

One cannot call themselves an animal lover and disregard the welfare of farm animals. Factory farming has become a holocaust of immeasurable proportions. The word “holocaust” is defined as a mass slaughter of people. For the purposes of this website, what are we mourning? We are mourning the loss of a loved one, a member of the family, an animal with whom we have bonded. These same animals, only farm animals, are being raised in “industrial, cruel, profitable” conditions, and then being shipped to a slaughterhouse by a means of transportation that is every bit as cruel. The slaughterhouse is the climax of the nightmare. One need not investigate far to understand the conditions these animals suffer. The knowledge is all around us. The undercover tapes are everywhere.

Do you have the courage? That is what it takes. Courage and usually a Kleenex box to say you want to know the truth and watch the tapes. Once you know the truth, it may haunt you, it may change you, or it may not affect you at all. But at least you will know the truth.

I would rather spend a few minutes of fear & anxiety doing something I’m scared to death to do than spend a lifetime wishing I could go back and just be given the opportunity to do things differently. We can practice our compassion three times a day just by making certain choices at our meal times. We can stand up for our animal friends when they are ridiculed, not taken seriously, and harm is brought to them, and we can join together to contact and pressure our legislators to let them know where we stand and let them know we want laws changed to protect farm animals and give them better protection. Our voices can shake, we can be ridiculed, & we can be made fun of, but we are only given one chance and one life to make an impact. If we work together, we can be the voice that will be heard.
